This $1.3 billion expansion to Miami International Airport included infill projects that were constructed immediately next to operational gates. The flow of passenger traffic was not compromised despite the fact that there were literally planes on one side of the concourse while construction was taking place on the other side. The project included: Ticketing counters, Gate delivery baggage system, 48 Gates including 29 wide body gates, 3.6 Million square feet of additions and renovations, 1.3 Miles of APM guideway and stations, Expanded security checkpoints, Centralized FIS , 286 Tenant relocations, Coordination of 32 design firms, 130 consultants and 200+ contractors , Majority of construction in secure areas with airside access.
