DALLAS - Austin Bridge & Road (ABR) was honored to be honored in December as DFW International Airport presented its annual awards for work at the airport.
ABR earned the Safety Excellence Award, the 2024 Project of the Year Award for Runway 17R-35L, and was named the 2024 Contractor of the Year. Accepting the awards were Senior Vice President Bill Heathcott, Area Manager Clay Stark, Senior Estimator Dan Miller, and Assistant Project Manager Peter Barney.
The Runway 17R-35L project was the largest portion of work this year at DFW. It included 394,000 tons of asphalt paved, 195,000 CY of concrete poured, 200,000 CY of earthwork, 53,000 LF of underdrain pipe, and numerous duct banks, light cans, and light fixtures installed or replaced. Austin completed Phase II a week early and Phase III five days early. Both were impactful for American Airlines’ and DFW’s operations.
“The entire team worked tirelessly through the final stages of this important phase,” said DFW Program Director Alan Dadian. “The entire team worked extremely professionally and responded to all requests to complete work activities.”
The 400,000 manhours of work – all of which took place in the heavily restricted and monitored air operations area (AOA) – was achieved without a single recordable incident. Those figures, along with a continuous focus on safety improvement, are why ABR received the safety award.
“I’m proud of all three awards, but the Contractor of the Year award is the culmination of the work we’ve built every day at DFW for the past decade,” Heathcott said. “It’s an honor to represent all the men and women who add just a bit more effort every day to make our projects successful.”
The company extends its congratulations to the DFW team on this historic success and for delivering excellence to our customers.
