Austin Bridge & Road was the prime contractor to the Fort Worth Transit Authority on the construction addition of a center platform and double track, increasing the capacity of the existing Trinity Railway Express(TRE) Centreport side station located south of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This unique project required extensive architectural and structural planning and detailing to coordinate with the existing platform aesthetics and configuration. Further considerations required minimal interruption to existing pedestrian traffic and extended existing platform length for projected increase in future ridership capacity.
The 500-foot-long platform included three matching canopies, handicap access ramps, special windscreens, public notice boards, lighting, communications and electronic message boards. Special platform features include a stained stamped brick pattern surface to minimize maintenance costs and a precast utility trench for future expansion of conduit and communications system.
